Joycy Lyngdoh, a 35-year-old from Meghalaya, has shattered stereotypes by becoming Amazon's first female trucking partner in India. With over 6 years of driving experience, she turned her passion for driving into a successful career. Joycy is now a seasoned professional and cannot imagine doing anything else. Her journey has inspired many more female drivers in her community.
As the sole breadwinner for her family, Joycy has taken care of her mother and three sisters. She worked in various companies in Guwahati after completing her education, including a steel company and as a store manager at a local shop. She eventually learned to drive with help from friends and started driving a school bus. Her love for the road led her to temporary driving opportunities and eventually, to Amazon, where she has been working for the past year.
Amazon has over 500 trucking partners in India who ensure the safe, reliable, and timely delivery of customer packages. Third-party trucking service providers like Joycy are the backbone of Amazon's operations and the company has built programs to help them learn safe driving techniques and route knowledge. Joycy has successfully participated in these programs and serves as a great example for others looking for new opportunities in logistics.
Amazon facilitates its trucking partners by securing health and accident insurance benefits for drivers. It also enables drivers through technology-driven solutions, such as safe driving and efficient package delivery, by providing navigation assistance and real-time reporting of delays and disruptions.
Venkatesh Tiwari, Director of Middle Mile Operations at Amazon India, said, "Joycy embodies the spirit of an Atmanirbhar Bharat and we are proud to be empowering drivers like her.
