The Noida International Airport (NIA), also called Jewar Airport, is set to start commercial operations by April 2025. To ensure seamless connectivity, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has announced plans to operate electric buses on six major routes.
Electric Buses to Connect Key Locations
YEIDA aims to connect Jewar Airport with Noida, Greater Noida, and nearby areas in Western Uttar Pradesh using a fleet of electric buses. These buses will provide a dedicated public transport system for commuters and airport passengers.
Proposed Routes for Electric Bus Connectivity
YEIDA has identified several routes to improve transportation:
The initial fleet will consist of 175-200 buses, equipped with sufficient luggage space.
Updates on Approval and Operations
YEIDA has already received permission to operate buses on two routes in Yamuna City. Approval for additional routes is under review by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). The authorities also plan to hire an operator to manage the services once all approvals are granted.
Technology for Easy Travel
YEIDA will develop a mobile app to track buses in real time. The app will allow passengers to book tickets and monitor bus schedules.
