Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group's Indian flagship and the country's leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, and Aidrivers, a specialist in AI-enabled autonomous solutions, are collaborating to produce autonomous electric terminal trucks to meet the port industry's Net Zero emissions requirements.
This truck model will be built on an Ashok Leyland platform and outfitted with Aidrivers' autonomous eco-system. It will be manufactured at Ashok Leyland's production facilities. To receive delivery in 2024, an order must be placed now. The first fleet of trucks is expected to be ready for real-world terminal operations early next year.
"Ashok Leyland has been a pioneer in introducing new technology and innovation in the commercial vehicle market. We are thrilled to be collaborating with Aidrivers and look forward to creating and developing the country's first autonomous electric terminal truck. This will propel the industry forward in the future years," stated Dr N Saravanan, President and Chief Technology Officer of Ashok Leyland.
According to Dr Rafiq Swash, Founder and CEO of Aidrivers, "This ground-breaking AV/EV will set an important standard with milestones for both Net Zero and autonomous automation, and a platform on which we will expand the presence of 'Aidrivers' AI-enabled autonomous ecosystem for port operations."
