Ashok Leyland, part of the Hinduja Group, has secured an order worth ₹297.85 crore to supply 320 diesel buses to the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation. The company plans to deliver the buses between June and August this year. In July last year, Ashok Leyland received its largest single order of 2,104 fully built buses from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation.
Specifications of the Diesel buses
The Ashok Leyland, Chennai-based company, will provide BS VI diesel 12-meter ultra-low entry rear-engine fully built buses. All these buses will be used for city operations. These buses have iGen 6 BS VI technology and an H-Series engine producing 184 kW (246 hp). They also feature front and rear air suspension for smoother rides.
Ashok Leyland is the only manufacturer in India producing 12-meter ultra-low-floor diesel buses. The company has begun delivering these buses to MTC in Tamil Nadu. Additionally, with the launch of the Bada Dost i5, Ashok Leyland entered the 3.5-4T segment, further expanding its LCV range. In Q2 FY25, the company also secured a large repeat order for 180 units of Boss 19T BEV and AVTR 55T TT BEV trucks.
