The order entails the delivery of 552 Ultra-Low Entry (ULE) buses, specifically designed for public transportation needs.
Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group's Indian flagship and a prominent player in the country’s commercial vehicle manufacturing sector, stated that it had received an order for 552 Ultra-Low Entry (ULE) buses for public transportation from TNSTC (Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation).
Ashok Leyland is happy to work with TNSTC to achieve "Mobility for All," the Tamil Nadu state government's goal of expanding public transportation access. The order entails the delivery of 552 Ultra-Low Entry (ULE) buses, specifically designed for public transportation needs.
Having established a commendable track record, Ashok Leyland has supplied over 18,477 buses to the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, solidifying its reputation as a reliable and preferred partner for the state's public transportation requirements.
These ULE buses reflect Ashok Leyland's best-in-class technology, providing an enhanced passenger transportation experience. These buses have been certified as differently-abled passenger-friendly buses, setting a new industry standard. The design is centred on the citizen, providing not only exceptional comfort but also top-tier safety standards for both passengers and drivers.

The ambitious project is made possible through funding from the German Development Bank (KfW), highlighting the international collaboration for sustainable and inclusive mobility solutions. Shenu Agarwal, the Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland expressed enthusiasm about the new order, stating, “This order reinforces our dedication to creating very efficient and technologically advanced products that exceed our customer expectations and contribute to the growth of public transportation.”
Sanjeev Kumar, the President of M&HCV (Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles) at Ashok Leyland, highlighted the significance of the ULE buses in terms of technology and safety within the commercial vehicle segment. He added, “This order reflects the trust that our customers place in Ashok Leyland.”
The German Development Bank (KfW) is funding this project. Ashok Leyland will begin delivering these buses in the coming months, demonstrating its commitment to the growth and development of sustainable and accessible mobility solutions.
