Three big companies in India have teamed up to launch battery-swappable electric three-wheelers. Atul Greentech, Valeo India, and Honda Power Pack Energy India (HEID) have joined hands to bring this technology to the Indian market.

The partnership combines the strengths of all three companies: Atul's experience in making three-wheelers, Valeo's advanced 48V electric powertrain, and HEID's battery-swapping system.

New Electric three-wheelers

They have introduced two new electric three-wheelers: the MOBILI SWAP for passengers, which can run 79 km per battery swap, and the ENERGIE SWAP for cargo, covering 74 km per swap. This innovation may solve the problem of long charging times, making electric vehicles more convenient.

Leadership Insights

Vijay Kedia, Director of Atul Auto, said that interchangeable batteries will change the electric vehicle industry. He explained that this system will help customers earn more by removing the need for recharging. A wide network of battery swap stations will ease range concerns. Since the battery remains company-owned, customers will pay less for the vehicle and have fewer warranty issues.

Jayakumar G, Group President and MD of Valeo India, highlighted the impact of this collaboration, saying it will speed up the shift to electric three-wheelers and help lower CO2 emissions.

Atul Greentech, a part of Atul Auto Limited, specializes in making electric three-wheelers for both Indian and global markets. Valeo, known for its 48V systems, provides a compact powertrain designed for India's small mobility vehicles. HEID supports the system with battery swap stations, allowing quick battery changes and removing the need for long charging breaks.

This initiative aims to speed up EV adoption in India, especially for last-mile delivery and urban transport. By solving issues like charging time and range anxiety, the partnership hopes to make electric vehicles easier to use for both fleet operators and individual buyers.
