Volvo Trucks India, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (VECV), showcased its groundbreaking Volvo FM 4X2 Electric Highway Tractor Truck at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 in Delhi. The unveiling of this electric truck underscores Volvo's commitment to carbon neutrality and offers a diverse range of alternate fuel solutions for customers.

Global Strides in the Electric Truck Sector

Globally, Volvo has already established itself as a leader in the electric truck sector, having delivered over 5000 medium and heavy-duty electric trucks for various applications. In India, the initial offering will be the versatile FM 4x2 electric tractor, designed to cater to Express logistics, Container movement, Car carriers, Reefers, and mineral transport.

Specifications of the Volvo FM 4X2 Electric Highway Tractor Truck

The electric truck features a Gross Combination Weight (GCW) of 44 tons, a motor capacity of 490 kW, and a battery capacity of 540 kWh. Notably, it provides a range of 250-300 km depending on the route and load.

Volvo's electric trucks are equipped with state-of-the-art Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, including Forward Collision Warning with Emergency Braking, Driver Alert System and Lane Changing Support.

Upon the successful conclusion of these trials, we will make these Electric trucks available to our customers.’’

By adding Electric trucks into their lineup, Volvo is making a substantial stride towards becoming the exclusive truck brand providing and endorsing heavy-duty diesel, LNG, and Electric trucks in India.
