The Bihar government has launched the Mukhyamantri Machhua Kalyan Yojana 2025 to support fish sellers and fishermen. Under this scheme, three-wheelersfitted with ice boxes will be provided at a 50% subsidy to ensure fresh and hygienic fish reaches consumers.
The scheme aims to help fish sellers hygienically transport fresh fish while boosting their income. Beneficiaries include members of Matsyajeevi Sahayak Samiti, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Jeevika Groups, and FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations) involved in fish selling.
Fish sellers can get three-wheelers with ice boxes at a 50% subsidy.
The total cost of a three-wheeler with an icebox is ₹3 lakh, but beneficiaries need to pay only ₹1.5 lakh.
Fishing and marketing kits will be distributed to eligible fishermen at a 100% subsidy.
Applications are open until March 31, 2025.

Applicants must submit their mobile number, bank details, and IFSC code in the application.
A postcard-size photograph of the fish-selling location or shop is required.
A self-declaration stating that the selling place is dispute-free is necessary.
Those who have already received a similar subsidy in the past will not be eligible.
Beneficiaries will be selected by a committee led by the Deputy Fisheries Director.
The Animal and Fisheries Resources Department of Bihar manages the scheme. Selected beneficiaries must get a quotation from an approved supplier and submit it to the District Fisheries Office. After payment of their contribution, they will receive their vehicle or kit through organized distribution camps in districts.
The Mukhyamantri Machhua Kalyan Yojana will help fishermen and fish sellers increase their earnings while ensuring the availability of fresh fish to consumers. This initiative is expected to create new job opportunities and improve fish marketing in Bihar.
