The company provides transportation services through government contracts and private-sector partnerships, ensuring daily travel for passengers in various regions.
Along with its bus operations, Chartered Speed is exploring ways to integrate electric and alternative fuel-powered vehicles into its fleet. This shift toward greener transportation aligns with industry trends focused on reducing emissions in public mobility solutions.
About PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme
The PM-eBus Sewa Scheme plans to deploy 10,000 electric buses across cities in India. The bus services will be operated through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This scheme will support the operations of these buses for 10 years. States and cities will be responsible for running the services and making payments to the bus operators. The Central Government will provide subsidies to support these operations, as outlined in the scheme.
The PM-eBus Sewa Scheme has a total funding of Rs 57,613 crore. The central government will contribute Rs 20,000 crore, while the rest will be provided by state governments. The scheme will cover cities with a population of 3 lakh or more, with priority given to cities that do not have organized bus services. The PM-eBus Sewa Scheme has two main segments: Augmenting City Bus Services and Green Urban Mobility Initiatives.
Augmenting City Bus Services: This segment will see e-buses operating under the PPP model, with the government helping to develop the infrastructure needed to support and upgrade bus depots. It will also assist cities in creating power infrastructure for the e-buses.
Green Urban Mobility Initiatives: This segment focuses on developing bus rapid transit projects and non-motorized infrastructure like bike-sharing and bicycle lanes. It will also include innovative projects such as the National Common Mobility Card, Intelligent Transit Management System, and Multimodal Interchange facilities.
