Key Highlights:

Greenlane, a joint venture between Daimler Truck North America, NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, and BlackRock, has broken ground on its first charging station in Colton, California.

This marks the commencement of construction on the company's first commercial charging corridor, which will run along Interstate Highway 15 between the urban areas of Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.

When fully developed, the Colton facility is projected to include over 60 charging points for heavy-, medium-, and light-duty zero-emission commercial vehicles.

Daimler Truck North America President and CEO, John O'Leary, highlighted the significance of opening the initial charging site in Colton as a demonstration of effective teamwork and a unified vision.

He expressed optimism that this initiative will boost the uptake of zero-emission vehicles and contribute to the development of sustainable transportation by meeting the critical demand for a comprehensive, accessible electric vehicle charging network.

Key Figures Attend the Ceremony

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by significant figures including John O'Leary, President and CEO of Daimler Truck North America, and Rakesh Aneja, Head of eMobility at DTNA. They emphasized the project's importance for regional development and its potential impact on the transportation industry.

Greenlane, in collaboration with its joint venture partners, is working on creating a comprehensive network of commercial charging infrastructure across the United States.

Beginning with the electrification of heavy-duty, medium-duty, and light-duty vehicles, charging stations will also service clients with battery-electric passenger vehicles and light-duty vehicle fleets. Greenlane also intends to develop hydrogen filling stations for business vehicles in the near future.

Grant Announcement

On September 9, Greenlane also announced it received a $15 million grant from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) under the Carl Moyer Zero-Emission Infrastructure program.

This funding will be used to accelerate the development of the Colton site, including site planning, engineering, and expansion of charging infrastructure. The site is expected to open by the end of 2024.
