In January 2025, India’s electric vehicle (EV) sales showed mixed performance. The sales of passenger electric three-wheelers (E3W L5) increased to 12,885 units in January 2025 from 10,632 units in December 2024. In January 2025, the sales of cargo electric three-wheelers (E3W L5) increased to 2,490 units from 2,130 units in December 2024.

Electric three-wheelers (E3W) are an important category of the electric vehicle (EV) market in India, as they offer affordable, convenient, and eco-friendly mobility solutions for both passengers and goods. 

In this news, we will examine the sales performance of E3W L5 in the goods and passenger segments for January 2025 based on the data from the Vahan Dashboard.

E-3W Passenger L5 Sales Trend

According to data from the Vahan Dashboard, the E-3W L5 Passenger category sold 12,885 units in January 2025 compared to 6,950 units in January 2024. The E-3W Passenger L5 segment witnessed a YoY growth in sales. 

Electric Three-Wheeler Passenger L5 Sales Trend by OEM

The sales figures for Electric Three-Wheeler Passenger L5 category have shown some remarkable growth in January 2025 compared to the previous year and month, as mentioned below:

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility saw a significant rise in sales, reaching 5,001 units in January 2025, compared to 2,833 units in January 2024. This marks a 77% year-on-year growth and a 16.8% m-o-m growth.

Bajaj Auto also experienced impressive sales growth. In January 2025, the company sold 4,878 units compared to 1,463 units in January 2024. There is a growth y-o-y growth of 233% and m-o-m growth of 26.1%.

Piaggio Vehicles recorded a sales of 1,430 units in January 2025, showing a 17% y-o-y decline from 1,723 units in January 2024. However, the m-o-m sales grew by 15.7%.

TI Clean Mobility sold 560 units in January 2025, reflecting a 53% y-o-y and a 24.7% m-o-m growth.

Omega Seiki witnessed the highest year-on-year growth of 411%. In January 2025, the company sold 240 units compared to 47 units in January 2024.

E-3W Goods L5 Sales

According to data from the Vahan portal, the total number of E-3W sold in the L5 Goods category was 2,490 units in January 2025 compared to 2,256 units in January 2024. The E-3W Cargo L5 segment witnessed a growth in sales.

E-3W Goods L5 Sales Trend by OEM

The sales data for Electric Three-Wheeler Goods L5 in January 2025 shows varied performances across different brands, with some experiencing notable growth.

Bajaj Auto led the growth with 480 units sold in January 2025, a 313.8% increase from 116 units in January 2024. The m-o-m growth was 30.4%.

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility recorded a sales of 456 units in January 2025, a 30.1% decrease from 652 units in January 2024. However, it saw a 4.6% m-o-m growth.

Omega Seiki sold 368 units in January 2025, reflecting a 13.9% year-on-year growth from 323 units in January 2024. The m-o-m growth was 31%.

Euler Motors sold 273 units in January 2025, showing a 15% decline from 321 units in January 2024. However, the brand saw a m-o-m sales growth of 26.4%.

Piaggio Vehicles saw a decline in sales with 157 units sold in January 2025, but still experienced a 28.7% year-on-year increase from 122 units in January 2024. However, the brand saw a m-o-m sales declined by 61.7%.

Passenger E3W sales are growing as more people choose electric vehicles for travel. The goods segment had mixed results, with some brands doing well while others saw a decline. Bajaj Auto and Mahindra Last Mile Mobility showed strong sales, but some companies faced challenges. Omega Seiki and Euler Motors continued to grow, showing steady progress in the market.
