Force Motors, India's largest van manufacturer, is stepping up its game in the van segment with the URBANIA. The URBANIA, which will be available in a month, was revealed to a selected group of dealers on Monday.
URBANIA, codenamed T1N, was developed with a Rs 1,000 crore investment and is India's first fully ground-up modular monocoque van. Force Motors has already begun production of the URBANIA, and the first batch of Vans will be available in dealerships within the next two weeks.
URBANIA was shown at the 2020 Auto Expo, but the launch was postponed due to the Covid pandemic. The next-generation shared mobility platform was created with global goals in mind. It is designed and protected for use in select Middle Eastern, African, ASEAN, and South American markets where the van is expected to offer a high-value proposition in comparison to high-premium products from Europe, the Far East, and the United States.
The Force Motors team working on URBANIA extensively consulted with leading technology specialists and domain experts from around the world, including Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and the United States, to improve, refine, and validate this platform made in India to meet international performance expectations.
There are 11-seater, 14-seater, and 18-seater variants available.
URBANIA is the first in its segment to offer all-wheel disc brakes. The Urbania platform has been designed as a two-box construction, with the engine fully outside the passenger compartment to ensure minimal NVH. The URBANIA's two-box design will accommodate both ICE and ELECTRIC powertrains. It will be powered by a tried and tested Mercedes-derived engine producing 115 Bhp, BS6 compliant, Common Rail Diesel Engine with a peak torque of 350 Nm between 1,400 and 2,200 RPM.
