Green Cell Mobility invests in a 1MW Wind Solar Hybrid captive power plant to power its 'NueGo' lineup of electric buses. The plant will generate 4.6 million units of renewable energy and power the majority of the NueGo bus fleet.
Green Cell Mobility, a pioneer in the electric bus sector, has signed a power purchase agreement and made a strategic equity investment in a 1MW Wind Solar Hybrid captive power plant situated in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, through its subsidiary GreenCell Express.
Environmental Impact of Investment
The subsidiary operates the ‘NueGo’ inter city electric bus brand in India. With the purchase of a power plant, these buses now will be powered by renewable energy, making it an innovative and industry-first initiative.
These buses will reduce around 38,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions over their entire lifetime, positively affecting the environment of India. The power plant has a capability to generate 4.6 million units of renewable energy every year.

GreenCell’s Goal to Transition to Renewable Energy
Green Cell Mobility is actively pursuing similar agreements with other Indian states to transition from grid energy to renewable energy completely. The company aims to achieve net zero status and increase the adoption of renewable energy for electric buses in the country.
Green Cell is actively collaborating with both state and central stakeholders to facilitate policy changes for the same. The Company is also exploring the deployment of battery energy storage to ensure end to end eco friendly operations.
