Keto Motors has joined hands with Saera Electric to unveil an exciting lineup of six new electric three-wheelers.
The rapid rise of the Indian electric three-wheeler industry, which has seen sales of over 300,000 and a 79% year-on-year increase in the first seven months of CY2023, is causing new market dynamics. The latest is a joint venture between Telangana-based Keto Motors of the ETO Motors Group and Delhi-based Saera Electric Auto.
Keto Motors has joined hands with Saera Electric to unveil an exciting lineup of six new electric three-wheelers. This strategic joint venture marks a significant step towards revolutionizing urban transportation with eco-friendly solutions.
The newly announced range of electric three-wheelers is poised to cater to a wide spectrum of consumer needs, including commercial, passenger, and goods transportation. This diversified approach underscores the commitment of both Keto Motors and Saera Electric to address the evolving mobility requirements of modern cities, while simultaneously minimizing the carbon footprint.
Saera Keto EV Pvt. Ltd strives to create synergistic profits by capitalizing on each company's primary competencies. While Saera Electric is recognized for its L3 range (e-rickshaws) and is the third-ranked electric three-wheeler OEM (according to Vahan) in the January-July 2023 period, Keto Motors is known for its L5 range (e-autos) for passenger- and cargo-transport applications.
The joint endeavour seeks to manufacture high-speed electric passenger and cargo three-wheelers at each other's plants in Telangana and Haryana. OEMs have stated that they want to launch six new, competitively priced models within six months, or in early January 2024.

The Saera Electric Auto plant is located at the Harley-Davidson site in Bawal, Haryana, and has an annual production capacity of 100,000 three-wheelers. Keto Motors' plant is in Jadcherla, Telangana, and it also has an R&D lab.
According to the company, the Saera Auto-branded e-three-wheelers will have fast-charging technology, a vehicle management unit, and a high level of safety and comfort for the driver and passengers.
According to the retail sales strategy, Saera Keto EV intends to start with a network of more than 100 dealers across India, which is expected to increase to 250 dealers within a year. This expansion strategy intends to make L5 electric vehicles available in major metros, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Nitin Kapoor, founder and director of Saera Electric, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. Dr Karthik Ponnapula, founder of Keto Motors, stated, "The JV will offer the industry's largest product range of E3Ws with the launch of a comprehensive range of new products catering to emerging market segments over the next few quarters. These advanced technology products have been created to complement group verticals - ETO's fleet management capabilities and Trinity Cleantech's EV charging infrastructure construction."
The unveiling of this new range follows a growing trend in the automotive industry, where companies are increasingly investing in electric and hybrid vehicles to meet stringent emission norms and consumer demand for sustainable alternatives.
This strategic partnership between Keto Motors and Saera Electric aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and transition towards a greener future.
