Key Highlights:

Kinetic Group has completed its battery manufacturing plant in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The plant, built with an investment of Rs. 50 crore, can produce 60,000 battery packs per year. It will make Range-X batteries for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, offering both Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) variants.

The Range-X LFP batteries come with thermal runaway protection and a smart Battery Management System (BMS). Kinetic Group says these batteries are made using recyclable materials. The facility will also make NMC batteries, which offer high energy density and better charge-discharge rates.

The facility has automated production lines with IoT-enabled systems and follows industry standards like AIS 156 and AIS 004. Kinetic plans to supply batteries to other companies as well, aiming to serve India's expanding EV market, which is expected to reach US$ 18.319 billion by 2029.

Leadership Insight

Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kinetic Group, said the new facility shows their focus on self-reliance and sustainability in battery technology. The company is also developing a local Battery Management System (BMS) under the government's PLI schemes and PM E-Drive Make in India initiative.
