Mahindra Last Mile Mobility (LMM), a division of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), has flagged off 100 Treo electric three-wheeler from Begumpet in Hyderabad.

According to the company, these electric three-wheelers spread the message of pollution-free mobility. Chief Guest Jayesh Ranjan, IAS - Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce and IT, Govt. of Telangana; Sourabh Mishra, Head of Sales, Customer Care & Marketing, LMM; and Himanshu Aggarwal, Head of Sales & Exports, LMM, flagged off the Treo e-rickshaws.

Telangana is one of India's leading states in encouraging electric vehicles and developing a sustainable ecology around them. Mahindra has committed to investing Rs 1,000 crore in Telangana in stages and recently staged a groundbreaking ceremony for the development of its Zaheerabad factory.

The growing adoption of electric vehicles globally and in India is a huge transformation taking place in the automotive sector. Everybody now understands the future of vehicles is EVs. In India, EV adoption is slow due to the challenges in the technological shift and the lack of infrastructure.

The electric three-wheeler has become immensely popular in cities and towns as one of the most affordable last-mile vehicles compared to giving IC engines vehicle a run for their money.

Mahindra and Mahindra, the Indian EVs domain pioneer, eyes a greater opportunity in the last-mile electric three and four-wheeler segment. Mahindra is the only major player who ventured into this segment to take the first movers’ advantage. After a few EV products sold in the market with a deeper understanding and customer feedback, the company has developed a completely new EV platform, the Treo.
