The RAAHI plan aims to replace over 12,000 aged diesel three-wheelers by methodically selecting beneficiaries who have been assessed by the Amritsar Smart City Limited team.
Key Highlights:
• Montra Electric has been chosen for the RAAHI project in Amritsar.
• This project aims to replace old diesel auto-rickshaws with electric ones for cleaner air.
• Montra Electric's vehicles offer benefits like subsidies for women drivers and skill development classes for families.
• The initiative focuses on improving last-mile connectivity and reducing pollution levels.
• TI Clean Mobility, the company behind Montra Electric, is excited to contribute to this eco-friendly initiative.
Montra Electric, Murugappa Group's EV brand, makes a big move toward sustainable mobility by being selected as one of the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for the Rejuvenation of Auto-rickshaws in Amritsar through Holistic Intervention (RAAHI) project. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development's City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain (CITIIS) program.
The RAAHI plan, which was launched in 2019, aims to replace over 12,000 aged diesel three-wheelers by methodically selecting beneficiaries who have been assessed by the Amritsar Smart City Limited team. Under this program, each applicant is eligible to a Rs 1.40 lakh subsidy. Choosing the Montra Electric Super Auto allows beneficiaries to get the full subsidy immediately into their accounts, as well as FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) reductions.
Women drivers, in particular, receive a 90% subsidy on pink electric vehicles, and their families are eligible for NSDC skill development classes.
The RAAHI project is an important component of CITIIIS because it focuses on reducing city air pollution levels and includes multiple interconnected elements such as electric vehicle charging stations, strengthening the 3-wheeler industry, creating livelihood opportunities, improving pedestrian safety, improving first and last-mile connectivity, and promoting cleaner air.
To be eligible for RAAHI program benefits, applicants must be members of the Amritsar Auto-Rickshaw Drivers Cooperative Society and have either an Aadhaar card or a voter card, as well as the registration certificate for their previous auto, a valid driver's license, and a society membership slip.
According to KK Paul, MD of TI Clean Mobility (TICMPL), "We are thrilled to participate in the RAAHI Project as an OEM partner. We are excited to provide our innovative electric 3-wheelers to beneficiaries as part of this project. Recognizing the importance of three-wheelers in last-mile transportation, Montra Electric is dedicated to improving last-mile mobility through creative design and performance."
