In a significant move towards revolutionizing urban transportation in the capital, Namma Yatri, a community-driven ride-booking app and a proud member of the ONDC Network, has officially launched its services in Delhi. The app, operating on a zero-commission model, aims to empower auto rickshaw drivers to enhance their earnings while providing affordable and convenient transportation solutions for citizens.
The launch event flagged off by Kailash Gahlot, the Honorable Transport Minister of the Government of NCT of Delhi, marked a milestone in the city's transportation industry. Gahlot expressed his optimism about the positive impact Namma Yatri could have on both the livelihoods of three-wheeler (auto-rickshaw) drivers and the overall commuting experience for citizens.
Ashish Kundra, Principal Secretary cum Commissioner, Transport, lauded Namma Yatri's commitment to transparency, inclusivity, safety, and public transport integration. He stated, "I welcome the app's community-driven approach, which will enhance the quality of life for drivers and citizens alike, contributing to a sustainable, more connected future."
Namma Yatri's zero-commission model sets it apart in the ride-booking industry, allowing auto rickshaw drivers to retain their full earnings, ultimately leading to increased financial stability. The app, already boasting a network of 10,000+ drivers in Delhi, has ambitious plans to onboard 50,000+ drivers within the next three months.
ONDC, or Open Network for Digital Commerce, highlights India's commitment to democratising commerce through an open, efficient, and interoperable network. Namma Yatri's alignment with ONDC further reinforces its dedication to promoting transparency, fairness, and efficiency in the urban transportation sector.
With a focus on creating a sustainable and inclusive ecosystem, Namma Yatri emerges as a game-changer in Delhi's transport landscape, promising a brighter future for both drivers and commuters. As the app gains momentum, it aims to bridge the gap between convenience and affordability, making urban transportation more accessible for all.
