PMI Electro Mobility Launches Electric 'Mohalla Buses' in Delhi

Women passengers will be able to travel for free on these buses. The 24-seater buses are expected to serve around 3,000 passengers daily.

PMI Electro Mobility has launched a new pilot project in Delhi, introducing electric 'Mohalla Buses' to enhance last-mile connectivity. The initiative was inaugurated by Saurabh Bhardwaj, the Urban Development Minister of Delhi NCT, and Somnath Bharti, a Member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, who flagged off one of these buses from Nehru Place Metro Station. 

At the same time, another bus was launched from Vasant Vihar Metro Station by Parmila Tokas, also a Member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly.

Features of the Mohalla Buses

The new Mohalla Buses are 9-meter air-conditioned low-floor electric bus, designed to provide better accessibility in areas that are hard to reach by conventional buses. 

These buses are part of Delhi's public transport system and are equipped with modern safety features such as emergency stop buttons, CCTV cameras, accessibility ramps, and fire extinguisher systems.

PMI Electro Mobility's Vision for Delhi

Dr. Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., highlighted the company's commitment to supporting Delhi's vision for sustainable public transport. 

The electric buses come with fast-charging lithium-ion batteries and modern amenities like a Real-Time Passenger Information System, panic buttons, and a Vehicle Location and Tracking System. These zero-emission buses are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by over 650 tons in the next year.

Impact and Benefits

The pilot project will see these buses operating from Vasant Vihar and Nehru Place Metro Stations, serving various areas in South Delhi. Women passengers will be able to travel for free on these buses. The 24-seater buses are expected to serve around 3,000 passengers daily.
