Schaeffler is ready to serve various segments in both ICE and EV categories, including two-, three-, and four-wheelers.
Key Highlights:
Schaeffler India is boosting its role in the two- and three-wheeler markets. It is using its experience in internal combustion engine (ICE) parts and its new electric powertrain solutions from the Vitesco Technologies acquisition. The company believes there are many opportunities as the Indian market moves towards two wheelers and electric vehicles.
Leadership Insight's:
Harsha Kadam, Managing Director and CEO of Schaeffler India, explained, “We already have a strong presence in the ICE two-wheeler segment with our bearings and one-way clutches. Now, we’re developing wet clutches for motorcycles with engines of 400cc and above as the market shifts.”
Schaeffler had been considering entering the electric two-wheeler market, and the Vitesco merger has given it a strong advantage. “Vitesco already has expertise in electric two-wheeler technology, especially in sensors and electronics for both ICE and EVs. This strengthens our position,” said Harsha Kadam.
The acquisition also gave Schaeffler access to key components like ECUs, knock sensors, and integrated powertrain solutions. “Earlier, we didn’t make ECUs. Now, with Vitesco’s technology, we have access to their designs, including motor controllers, gearboxes, and power electronics—all in a complete package,” he added.
Expanding Across ICE and EV Segments
Schaeffler is ready to serve various segments in both ICE and EV categories, including two-, three-, and four-wheelers. “We have been gaining business in the passenger car EV market, and now the two-wheeler segment is also ready. We can now offer solutions across all categories,” said Harsha Kadam.
As India’s two-wheeler market moves towards premium models and electric vehicles, Schaeffler aims to play a key role in the future of mobility, supported by local production, innovation, and its expanded product range.
