SWITCH Mobility Ltd has unveiled two new electric city buses, the EiV12 and E1. EiV12 bus is for India and the E1 is for Europe. These electric buses were launched by Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways of India. Designed with advanced electric vehicle (EV) technology, both models aim to provide efficient, comfortable, and sustainable transport solutions.
EiV12: Advanced Features for India
The EiV12 is designed for Indian urban environments and can accommodate up to 39 seated passengers. It features a low-floor entry with a kneeling mechanism for easy access and an automated wheelchair ramp for differently-abled passengers.
The bus also prioritizes safety with five CCTV cameras providing 360-degree coverage and designated seats for women. A key highlight of the EiV12 is its SWITCH iON telematics system, which allows real-time monitoring of vehicle health, Integrated Transport Management Systems (ITMS), and efficient fleet management.
The bus’s batteries are IP67-rated, ensuring reliability even on flooded roads. Additionally, its dual-gun rear charging interface allows for rapid recharging, optimizing depot space. The panoramic glass area offers improved visibility, natural lighting, and aesthetics inside the bus.
E1: Tailored for Europe’s Urban Needs
For the European market, the SWITCH E1 offers a lightweight monocoque construction and a flat gangway layout, making it ideal for efficient passenger movement. With a capacity of up to 93 passengers, including standees, the E1 features a triple-door configuration that enables quick boarding and alighting.
The E1 also integrates in-wheel motors to enhance performance and space utilization, making it a perfect fit for densely populated cities.
