Auto spelt backwards is Otua, a word that plays on the classic AUTO. Otua made its maiden appearance on Shark Tank, and a contract was completed between Kshitij Bajaj, Founder & CEO of Dandera Ventures, and Ashneer Grover, co-founder and former Managing Director of BharatPe.
Dandera Venture, an Xponents Venture Studio portfolio firm, created the OTUA in-house. It is an Indian-made product that will be used for last-mile delivery. The OTUA has priced between Rs 3.5 and Rs 5.5 lakh. It has a 165-kilometre range that can be extended beyond 300 kilometres. Its carrying capacity is 183CC/900 kg. It has an air-conditioned cabin. Its Connected EV app manages fleets and drivers.
Kshitij Bajaj, Founder and CEO of Dandera Ventures, commented on the occasion, saying, "OTUA elevates the bar for everything that last mile delivery drivers and fleet owners have come to expect from a cargo EV. OTUA is the first cargo EV to offer an uncompromising vision of transitioning to sustainable mobility for the global logistics and last-mile delivery business, from world-class and industry-leading driver ergonomics and safety to sheer performance in terms of range, volume, and capacity."
"Dandera is committed to not just supporting, but also hastening the logistics industry's transition to sustainable mobility with its industry-leading portfolio of commercial EVs," stated Kanav Manchanda, Founder and COO of Dandera Ventures. “Both OTUA and Dandera were created with the goal of setting new standards in the EV sector. Whereas the OTUA is positioned to be India's most sophisticated EV, its rollout is also designed to allow for efficient flexibility. The future is ours to take," He added.
"The introduction of OTUA marks a critical step in Dandera's path to establishing a complete ecosystem for the transformation of last-mile delivery logistics to electric cars, meeting the demands for both B2B and B2C logistics," stated Sarth Jain, Founder of Xponents. “The debut of OTUA has the potential to profoundly alter the way intracity and in-city distribution is carried out, as well as the influence it has on our environment. Dandera's team will continue to focus on design innovation and the development of newer technologies for more efficient and widely useable EVs." He added.
The Indian last-mile delivery and logistics business is expanding at a rapid pace and is expected to reach a $5 billion market in the next years. As part of its attempts to lower its carbon impact, the sector is intentionally shifting toward electric vehicles and other sustainable transportation alternatives.
This is a 100% Indian auto-rickshaw that was designed and produced in India. The Otua is equipped with the top features in the segment, including Anti-tilt Technology, Aerodynamic Design, Zero Down Time, 24x7 Aftersales Services, Maintenance Free, Zero Vibration, Noise, and Emission, Swappable Batteries, and the Drive More App. A single charge provides a range of 165 kilometers.
