ZF Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) India has unveiled a new Electronic Stability Control (ESC) test track in Chennai. This addition complements the company’s current ABS test track, enhancing its ability to conduct thorough vehicle safety assessments.

Key Features of the ESC Test Track

It is certified by TÜV Rheinland and ARAI and can test vehicles of all types, from two-wheelers to heavy commercial vehicles. The ESC test track is designed to assess vehicle stability, handling, and agility in a controlled environment.

The track includes a dynamic pad with a 200-meter diameter and a surface friction of 0.9 µ, providing high grip for accurate performance measurement. Engineers can evaluate various vehicle behaviors, such as acceleration, braking, and cornering, to identify the vehicle's limits and areas for improvement.

The facility also features 600-meter approach roads that replicate real-world driving conditions, like slippery surfaces, sharp turns, and sudden braking. The track is also available for customers and third parties, providing a space for industry stakeholders to conduct their own testing.

Statements from ZF Leaders

P. Kaniappan, Managing Director of ZF Commercial Vehicle Solutions, highlighted that the ESC test track is a major milestone for the company. He mentioned that it would help enhance the development and testing of safety systems, focusing on improving vehicle performance and safety.

Dr. Christian Brenneke, Executive Vice President of the Electronics and ADAS Division, mentioned that the facility is the outcome of several years of planning and teamwork. He emphasized that it underscores ZF’s commitment to road safety and innovation, while meeting the evolving needs of its customers.
