History of Trakstar Tractors

Gromax is a leading agricultural equipment manufacturing company in India that started its journey about 70 years ago. It was founded in 1946 with the brand name M/S Pashabhai Patel & Co. Pvt Ltd. It changed its brand name to M/s Tractors and Bulldozers Pvt Ltd in 1959. After that, it was rebranded as Hindustan Tractors Pvt Ltd in 1967. It kept manufacturing affordable and high-end tractors for Indian farmers. Later in 1972, the company entered into a joint venture with the Government of Gujrat under a Gujarat Agro program. Finally, the GoG took over this tractor manufacturing company in 1978 and rebranded it as M/s Gujarat Tractor Corporation Ltd. Mahindra & Mahindra looked at this tractor manufacturing company, acquired its 51% share in 1999 and another 9% in 2000, and renamed it Mahindra Gujarat Tractors Ltd. However, in 2017 this tractor brand was again renamed as Gromax Agri Equipment Ltd (GAEL). Under this joint venture, it introduced tractor models with the brand name Trakstar.
