Daimler Buses wants to offer locally CO2-neutral models powered by batteries or hydrogen in every segment by 2030.
Daimler Buses Teams Up with BMZ Poland for Next-Gen E-Bus Batteries

Key Highlights:
•    Daimler Buses and BMZ Poland team up for next-gen e-bus batteries.
•    They'll improve current battery tech for electric buses, offering more power and longer life with NMC4.
•    Daimler Buses' clients get better batteries.
•    Daimler brings bus know-how, and BMZ brings battery expertise.
•    BMZ Poland expands in Gliwice for EU's first bus battery production facility.

Daimler Buses and battery systems expert BMZ Poland have formed a collaboration to develop and deliver the next generation of e-bus batteries. BMZ Poland is a key member of the BMZ Holding group. BMZ will collaborate with Daimler Buses to further expand existing battery technology for electrically powered buses.

Benefits of NMC4 Batteries

The new battery generation NMC4, which will replace the present NMC3 technology, will combine high energy density, resulting in a longer range for e-buses, with an ultra-long cycle life.

Statements from Key Figures

According to Michael Klein, Chief Operating Officer of Daimler Buses, "The collaboration between our companies combines two important aspects: Daimler Buses' expertise in bus development and manufacturing and BMZ's know-how in heavy-duty lithium-ion battery solutions. I am thrilled to see the development of an exceptional new generation of batteries for our electric buses. This agreement represents a significant step forward in Europe's transition to zero-emission public transportation.

Tomasz Jankowski, General Manager of BMZ Poland, stated, "For the past decade, our objective has been to develop and produce best-in-class e-bus solutions. We are happy to be able to collaborate with Daimler Bus. Personally, I see this nomination as an honor for a persistent strategy of expansion and investment in the electric bus sector. Now, in collaboration with Daimler Buses, we will be able to carry out this approach on a higher scale."

"We will extend our production in Gliwice, making this facility the first of its kind in the EU built for the purpose of bus battery production along with a fully automatic assembling line," stated Paweł Kępski, Head of Business Unit EV, BMZ Poland.

Daimler Buses Future Outlook

Daimler Buses declared it is continually pursuing a defined e-roadmap across all sectors. Electric city buses have been in production since 2018, with intercity e-buses set to follow in the middle of the decade and electric coaches by 2030.

Daimler Buses wants to offer locally CO2-neutral models powered by batteries or hydrogen in every segment by 2030. The initial concentration will be on Europe and Latin America's core markets. The objective is to sell solely locally CO2-neutral new vehicles in Europe's core market by 2039. In the city bus market, this is projected to happen in Europe as early as 2030.

CMV360 Says

The partnership between Daimler Buses and BMZ Poland means better batteries for e-buses. They're teaming up to develop NMC4 batteries with longer range and durability. It's a big move towards cleaner public transport in Europe, fitting into Daimler's plan for all segments to go emission-free by 2030.
