Ashok Leyland is preparing to debut electric LCVs early next year.

Ashok Leyland is preparing to launch its electric LCV series, hopefully by the end of this year or early next year. Medium and heavy-duty trucks, on the other hand, are still a few years away. MHCVs are gaining traction right now. MHCVs expanded by around 40%+ last year, whereas Ashok Leyland grew by 70%+ in MHCVs. On the MHCV side, Ashok Leyland currently has stronger tailwinds.

Withdrawal of electric bus subsidies will burden passengers with expensive tickets

According to Electric bus manufacturers, the Centre's decision not to renew subsidies on electric buses will be included in the cost structure in future bids of participants before they inevitably pinch the pockets of the ordinary traveller.
The lowest bid was less than Rs 44/km in the first e-bus tender launched by the Centre-controlled Convergence Electric Services (CESL) in April last year. Due to a lack of government subsidies, the price has risen 36% to Rs 60/km in the most recent tender.

Volvo has received a record-breaking order for up to 1,000 electric trucks.

Holcim collaborates with Volvo to decarbonize European operations' logistics with electric fleets, moving closer to the goal of 30% zero-emission heavy-duty trucks by 2030. Holcim is a multinational building solutions manufacturer headquartered in Switzerland. Now, the firm and its contractors have agreed to plan for the deployment of 1,000 electric Volvo trucks across Holcim's activities in Europe between now and 2030.

Continental Tires and Indag Rubber collaborate on truck and bus radial retreading.

Continental Tires has announced an agreement with Indag Rubber to encourage tyre recycling. During the trial, TBR Normal Load (NL) fleets will receive warranty and retreading services from retreaders from three markets: Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. This collaboration will help to improve awareness of retreading as a viable alternative for extending the life of tires. The procedure will also result in decreased prices.

Goa is planning to expand drone farming in order to advance agriculture.

The Goa Directorate of Agriculture hopes to encourage farmers to use drone technology by purchasing two drones. These drones will be used to instruct farmers on the proper use of pesticides, weedicides, and water-soluble fertilizers in agricultural techniques.

The agricultural drone, which differs from other types of drones, has a diameter of 1.5 meters and can transport either 10 litres of pesticide or 10 kilograms of weedicide.

Rahul Gandhi spent the night in a truck discussing 'drivers' life challenges.

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, boarded a truck in Ambala, Haryana. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. He was travelling from Delhi to Chandigarh. According to Congress's social media resources, Rahul Gandhi rode in the truck to understand the challenges that heavy vehicle drivers experience when working through the night. During his journey from Murthal to Ambala, the Congress leader spoke with truck drivers about their problems and worries. He also talked to them about other issues that were bothering them and how they may be resolved.

Ashok Leyland forecasts an investment of Rs 600-750 crore in FY24.

Ashok Leyland, a Hinduja Group flagship firm, hopes to return to 'normal' capital spending of about Rs 600-Rs 750 crores in FY24, compared to the company's tightening in FY23 and FY22, when it incurred Rs 500 crore and Rs 400 crore, respectively. The comparable capex for the company was Rs 617 crore in FY21 and Rs 1292 crore in FY21 and FY20.

PMI Electro Mobility delivers 50 electric buses to Dharamshala.

PMI Electro Mobility, a manufacturer and fleet operator of electric buses, has delivered electric buses in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, as part of its ongoing commitment to clean and sustainable transportation. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sh. Sukhvinder Singh "Sukhu" unveiled the electric buses in Dharamshala.

PMI Electro Mobility provided Himachal Road Transport Corporation with 50 electric buses for Dharamshala and maintain them for a period of ten years, resulting in an overall reduction of 14,000 tons of Co2 over the contract term. Every year, each PMI electric bus may save 28,000 kg of CO2.

Tata Motors Finance establishes an IT Center in Pune to support digital transformation.

Tata Motors Finance is one of India's biggest non-banking lending companies. It has opened its first dedicated IT Infrastructure Development Center in Pune. According to the firm, the strategic move aims to capitalize on Pune's thriving technology environment, attract professional tech personnel, and develop a centralized tech solution hub for Tata Motors Finance's digital transformation activities.
