Mahindra Last Mile Mobility (LMM), a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at its existing facility in Zaheerabad, Telangana, for a new production unit.
After announcing a Rs 1000 crore investment in Telangana in February 2023, the Mahindra Group developed this facility. With this new facility, the company hopes to develop a cutting-edge battery assembly line, as well as power packs and electronic and drivetrain components for electric three-wheelers and four-wheelers. The facility will also employ 800 to 1000 employees in the surrounding area.
K T Rama Rao, Telangana's Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Industries and Commerce, and Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications, was the major guest. K Manik Rao, MLA, Zaheerabad Constituency, and Jayesh Ranjan, IAS - Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce and IT, Government of Telangana, were also present.
"Congratulations to M&M on the official opening of their new facility. I am confident that this facility will help to create jobs and preserve livelihoods. EVs are a priority for the Telangana government, and we are committed to developing the necessary infrastructure and ecosystem for EV promotion and adoption," said K T Rama Rao.
M&M's Last Mile Mobility (LMM) division is in charge of the company's mix of electric, gasoline, compressed natural gas (CNG), and diesel last mile mobility three- and four-wheelers in passenger and freight variants. The Mahindra Jeeto four-wheeler, the Mahindra Alfa three-wheeler line, and the electric Zor Grand and Treo series are among them.
LMM has made important contributions to energizing the category, and sustainability is a primary priority area for the company. The new unit has been intended to reduce waste and carbon impact while increasing efficiency and product quality. M&M is dedicated to becoming carbon neutral by 2040.
"Mahindra Last Mile Mobility is at the forefront of India's journey to electrify three-wheelers. I'd want to thank the Telangana government for the aggressive and easy-to-do-business policies that have helped Zaheerabad become one of the four mega EV production clusters. This facility will give us access to the region's cutting-edge infrastructure," stated Suman Mishra, CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility.
