The Mahindra Oja tractor series, which includes 40 models, was developed in close collaboration with the engineering teams of Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery in Japan and Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, which serves as Mahindra's Auto & Farm sector's R&D centre.

Mahindra Tractors, a division of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), has called their all-new lightweight global tractor platform (codenamed K2) Oja. Oja derives its name from the Sanskrit term 'Ojas,' which represents vigour, energy, and strength.
The Mahindra Oja tractor platform will produce 40 models, ranging in power from 20hp to 70hp, and will be targeted in four key geographies over the next three fiscal years, beginning this year.
The four sub-tractor platforms are Sub-Compact, Compact, Small Utility, and Big Utility tractor categories, with 40 models available at various HP levels.
Sub-Compact tractors (20-25hp), Compact tractors (21-30hp), Small Utility tractors (26-40hp), and Large Utility tractors are scheduled to be developed on the Sub-Compact platform (45-70hp). The K2 new tractor range program, which was first announced in March 2021 with a 37-model lineup, has been enlarged to 40 models with three new models.
In the recently finished the fiscal year 2023, Mahindra Tractors achieved record sales of 407,545 tractors, up 15% year on year (FY2022: 354,698 units). This included 389,531 units in the domestic market, a 16% increase, and 18,014 export units, a 2% increase. Early in 2023, it was reported that the tractor manufacturer was on track for record sales in FY2023, despite falling 10,469 units short of the 400,000 mark.
Obviously, the future-ready Mahindra Oja series, aimed at both Indian and key worldwide markets, is intended to allow the company to expand its global farming presence and, as a result, achieve significantly bigger sales volumes.

Mahindra Oja tractors will be produced solely in the company's modern Zaheerabad tractor facility, which is one of the largest in South Asia and one of the company's youngest tractor manufacturing sites. This vertically integrated tractor facility also produces Mahindra's next-generation Yuvo and Jivo tractors, as well as the recently released Plus Series of tractors.
Mahindra is presently the sole tractor manufacturer in Telangana, having invested over Rs 1,087 crore at Zaheerabad. The farm equipment sector employs about 1,500 people and has an annual capacity of over 100,000 tractors on a two-shift basis.
The highly equipped plant is capable of producing over 330 distinct tractor versions ranging from 30 to 100 hp. Since its start, the facility, which also manufactures rice transplanters and tractor-mounted combine harvesters, has followed the TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) concept, with around 65% of its tractor production exported abroad.
