Piaggio Vehicles has launched the new CNG-powered Apé Xtra LDX for Rs 251,586 (ex-showroom Maharashtra). The three-wheeler CNG cargo carrier was launched by the company to provide customers with the best solutions for their needs at the lowest running costs.

Piaggio is India's fastest-growing commercial vehicle firm and a 100% subsidiary of the Italian auto giant. It offers a product for everyone, whether it's CNG, LPG, diesel, gasoline, or electric.

Apé Xtra LDX CNG Features and Specifications

The company's proven 230cc, air-cooled, naturally-aspirated engine with 3-valve technology powers the latest Piaggio on three wheels, promising strong pulling power, and superior working efficiency at a cheap cost of maintenance.

The Apé Xtra LDX CNG has a 5.5-foot-long deck and is intended for cargo operations. According to Piaggio Vehicles, the vehicle boasts the best-in-class fuel efficiency of 40km/kg of CNG and the lowest running expenses.

The Ape Xtra LDX has been upgraded with features such as increased gradeability to 26 per cent, allowing for simple plying on flyovers and hilly terrain; tubeless tyres; 17.1Nm of torque to help carry the extra load; best-in-class mileage of 40km/kg of CNG; the max speed of 56kmph; extra headroom for driver comfort; a top speed of 56kph and a warranty of 36 months or 100,000km.

"Our revolutionary Apé is a fuel-agnostic brand, committed to providing our customers with the most suitable options for their needs," stated Diego Graffi, chairman and MD of Piaggio Vehicles.

" The Apé Xtra LDX was created in response to customer requests for a product that is simple to maintain, has minimal running costs, and meets a wide range of needs. Based on this understanding, our R&D team created the high-quality Apè Xtra LDX, which delivers our customers the maximum returns by being exceptionally fuel efficient and offering the best mileage," said Amit Sagar, executive vice-president, CV Domestic Business (ICE), and Retail Finance, Piaggio Vehicles.

Piaggio Vehicles Sales

In FY2023, Piaggio Vehicles sold 84,680 three-wheelers in India, a 95 per cent increase from the previous year's low base. Exports sales were almost unchanged at 24,620 units, compared to 24,789 units the previous year.

Piaggio Vehicles sold 5,643 three-wheelers in April, up 19% over the same month last year (April 2022: 4,746 units), for an 8 per cent market share. The three-wheeler market, which sold 70,928 units for a 57% year-on-year increase, is benefiting from rising demand for electric variations, in which Piaggio also has a significant position.

Piaggio hopes that the Apé Xtra LDX CNG would profit from increased demand for CNG vehicles as a result of the recent CNG price decrease, which reduced the fuel price by 9%.
