BEST had already rejected Tata Motors' bid as "technically non-responsive," and the contract was granted to Hyderabad-based Evey Trans.

The Supreme Court dismissed Tata Motors' appeal against the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) decision to ban the company from a tender bid for delivering 2,100 electric buses in Mumbai.
BEST had already rejected Tata Motors' bid as "technically non-responsive," and the contract was granted to Hyderabad-based Evey Trans. The court confirmed BEST's decision, ruling that Tata Motors' appeal was without merit.
The development comes after the Bombay High Court upheld BEST's decision in July of last year. The petition was dismissed by a Division Bench of Justices S.V. BEST had eliminated Tata Motors, according to Gangapurwala and Madhav Jamdar, and its judgment was final and binding. The Bench also stated that if there are any irregularities in the tender distribution, BEST should consider launching a fresh tender.

MEIL's Evey Trans Private Limited is a subsidiary of the MEIL company. The buses are purchased from Olectra Greentech (OLECTRA), another MEIL group firm.
Olectra received its largest-ever order of 2,100 electric buses worth Rs 3,675 crore from BEST on May 23, last year, after being designated as an L1 bidder. The business is now proposing to increase capacity at its new greenfield facility in Telangana from 1,800 units to 5000 units, with the capability scalable up to 10,000 vehicles per year. The company already runs 40 electric buses for BEST in Mumbai, as well as for STUs in Pune, Hyderabad, Goa, Dehradun, Surat, Ahmedabad, Silvassa, and Nagpur.
