Vijayanand Travels, one of the country's biggest bus operators, has placed the largest order in India for 550 Intercity buses from Volvo and Eicher. The order is valued at around 500 crores and includes 500 units of Eicher Intercity 13.5m AC and non-AC sleeper coaches and 50 Volvo 9600 luxury sleeper coaches.

The completely air-conditioned buses are based on the Eicher 6016 S LPO 13.5-metre chassis and are powered by the dependable 5.1 litre VEDX5 engine from Volvo Group's worldwide powertrain family. It has a maximum power output of 240 HP and a flat torque output of 900 Nm at 1200-1600 rpm.
The Volvo 9600, with its distinctive tall boy form, combines great aesthetics with substantial capacity to easily accommodate 40 sleeper berths and 8.5 cu.m of luggage space.
