The company plans to launch its MY24 BharatBenz heavy-duty trucks in the coming months, including models with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
DICV will launch MY24 BharatBenz heavy-duty trucks with Automated Manual Transmission

Key Highlights:
•    DICV will launch MY24 BharatBenz heavy-duty trucks with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
•    New 12-speed AMT models include 4032TT, 5532TT, 3532CM, and 2832CM for long hauls and mining.
•    Advanced safety features like Active Drive Assist (ADA) handle steering, lane keeping, and acceleration.
•    BharatBenz trucks meet European crash safety norms, exceeding Indian regulations.
•    DICV supports AC cabins for improved driver comfort and safety.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, is making significant advances in safety technology, according to Satyakam Arya, the company's Managing Director and CEO. The company plans to launch its MY24 BharatBenz heavy-duty trucks in the coming months, including models with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).

Benefits of Automated Manual Transmission (AMT)

Driver tiredness is always caused by driving tasks such as frequent manual gear changes, and researchers have conducted substantial research on the fatigue element of driver monitoring and traffic safety. The development is crucial because, in addition to operational efficiencies and cost savings, AMTs increase driver experience and safety.

One alternative is to remove the manual transmission and replace it with an automatic, much like in cars. The introduction of AMTs eliminates the need for frequent manual gear changes, saving driver fatigue on long hauls.

AMTs give a smoother ride by automatically picking the best gear, reducing the possibility of driver error. They also prevent the truck from rolling back on inclines, which improves safety and convenience.

DICV has announced that 12-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) variations would be available for the first time in its tractor trailer and mining MY24 vehicles. AMTs will be available in 4032TT, 5532TT, 3532CM, and 2832CM for long-haul and mining applications.

The truck manufacturer states that the new AMT is used in over 500,000 trucks globally and provides jerk-free power transmission to the wheels with reduced shifting time, increased reliability, and minimal maintenance costs. It may be controlled via a handy steering column shift stick.

Compliance with European Crash Safety Norms

BharatBenz vehicles have the safest crash-tested cabins in India, reaching the highest safety standards (ECE R29-03) under European cab-crash laws that are not yet legislated in India, according to the company.

DICV improved its Indian vehicles by the most recent European crash safety standards last year, even though Indian rules had not yet been revised. Furthermore, the company has installed safety monitoring systems in 100% of its vehicles sold in India.

Advanced Safety Features: Active Drive Assist (ADA)

In a recent presentation, Arya emphasized the company's cutting-edge safety features, such as the Active Drive Assist (ADA) system, which can manage steering, lane maintenance, and acceleration autonomously, as well as active braking for automated full stops.

According to industry experts, active drive assist, also known as ADA, is equipped with cameras and sensors that monitor the truck's location within its lane, preventing unintended drifting by making minor steering adjustments to keep the truck balanced.

This decreases the safety risks associated with long periods of driving when driver exhaustion is typically significant. Second, it helps to keep a safe distance from other vehicles by automatically altering the truck's speed to meet traffic flow, avoiding the need for continual driver inputs, among other things.

Enhanced Driver Comfort with AC Cabins

DICV agrees on the need to modernize vehicles with features such as air conditioning cabins, which improve overall safety. They emphasized that as regulations require trucks to transition to air-conditioned cabins, it will help to provide improved conditions for drivers, making them more efficient and safe on the road.

CMV360 Says

The advancements made by DICV in safety technology, particularly the introduction of AMTs and advanced safety features like ADA, signify a significant step forward in ensuring driver safety and efficiency in heavy-duty trucks.

By going beyond regulatory requirements and prioritizing driver well-being, DICV sets a commendable example for the industry, paving the way for safer and more efficient transportation systems.
