Key Highlights:
GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd, part of Essar's Green Mobility initiative, has joined forces with Exide Industries, a leading battery manufacturer in India, to integrate LNG-powered trucks into Exide's logistics operations. This partnership aims to help Exide to achieve a more sustainable supply chain.
LNG-Powered Fleet for Sustainable Transportation
The collaboration will involve the use of GreenLine’s LNG-powered trucks, which are designed to reduce the environmental impact while ensuring efficiency and reliability for long-haul transportation. These trucks come with features such as real-time vehicle monitoring, predictive analytics, and safety enhancements. With a range of up to 1,200 km on a single tank, the vehicles offer a practical alternative to diesel-powered trucks.
Reducing Emissions and Supporting Sustainability Goals
The adoption of LNG-powered trucks is expected to assist Exide in reducing Scope 3 emissions related to logistics and supply chain activities. This move reflects Exide's commitment to integrating sustainability into its operations without compromising supply chain performance.
Statements from Company Executives
Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd, stated that the partnership is a step toward aligning logistics practices with environmental goals in the battery manufacturing industry. The focus is on optimizing logistics while addressing emission reduction objectives.
Avik Roy, Managing Director and CEO of Exide Industries Ltd, emphasized that incorporating LNG-powered trucks is an important part of Exide's larger environmental strategy, highlighting the company's ongoing commitment to sustainability.
GreenLine’s Fleet Expansion
GreenLine Mobility currently operates over 500 LNG-powered trucks and plans to expand its fleet by adding 1,000 more vehicles by March 2025. This expansion is aimed at meeting the growing demand for eco-friendly logistics solutions.
