JBM Ecolife Mobility Pvt Ltd., a part of JBM Auto Limited, has received an order for 1,021 electric buses under the Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2. The total order is worth around ₹5,500 crore. These electric buses will be used in 19 cities across Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana. With this new order, JBM now has over 11,000 electric buses in its order book.

These e-buses are expected to cover more than 32 billion passenger e-kilometers and reduce CO2 emissions by over 1 billion tons during their 12-year service period. Under this tender, JBM Ecolife Mobility will manage the entire project from start to finish. The project includes a Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) to guarantee timely payments to electric bus operators. The PSM will improve financial stability in the industry.

PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme

The PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 aims to introduce electric buses across several states to reduce urban pollution and upgrade public transport systems. It includes a Payment Security Mechanism to ensure operators' financial stability and offers comprehensive maintenance services.

This phase focuses on tier-2 and tier-3 cities, expanding clean transportation beyond metro cities. The scheme also supports India’s climate goals by cutting carbon emissions and improving connectivity for millions of people.

Leadership Insights

Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of JBM Auto, expressed his excitement about the company’s role in enhancing public mobility across India. He highlighted the company’s focus on providing sustainable public transport solutions and its efforts to make electric mobility more accessible.

Over the next 3-4 years, the company aims to serve around 20 billion passengers and cover 3 billion e-kilometers. This year marks a decade of JBM Auto’s involvement in the public mobility industry.

JBM Auto has deployed around 2,000 electric buses across India, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The company has set up a large integrated electric bus manufacturing facility in the Delhi-NCR region, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 electric buses.

About JBM Electric Vehicles

JBM Electric Vehicles began its journey in 1983 by manufacturing cylinders. As technology grew, the founder had a vision of “JBM inside,” inspired by Intel’s “Intel inside” in computers. The goal was for every vehicle in India to have a JBM component inside. Today, with JBM producing half a million auto components daily, this vision has become a reality.

Starting with a collaboration with India’s largest car manufacturer in 1987, JBM has grown into a $3.0bn global company with a presence in over 10 countries. The company has focused on scalability and sustainability, always guided by the principle of ‘One JBM.’ The true strength lies in the commitment of over 30,000 JBM employees who work together to deliver excellence every day.
