Stagecoach Partners with Switch Mobility for 70 Buses

Switch Mobility has received an order from Stagecoach for 70 buses. It includes 10 Switch Metrocity 9.5m electric buses and 60 Slimline Solo 8.5m Euro 6 certified buses.

Switch Mobility, a Hinduja Group firm that manufactures next-generation buses and light commercial vehicles, has received an order from Stagecoach, one of the UK's top bus and coach operators, for 70 buses.

Switch Mobility is a key player in the electric vehicle industry. The order demonstrates the growing demand for sustainable and efficient public transportation solutions. It includes 10 Switch Metrocity 9.5m electric buses and 60 Slimline Solo 8.5m Euro 6 certified buses. Switch Metrocity electric buses will operate on Route W11 in London.

These buses are sold under the Optare brand, currently integrated into Switch Mobility's product portfolio. These buses will play a vital role in enhancing public transportation services in the UK.

The Solo buses will help Stagecoach replace a portion of its large fleet of Solo buses around the country. The Metrocity products are expected to enter service in early 2024. With their advanced features, they will contribute to reducing the environmental impact and improving efficiency.

The Solo’s buses are expected to begin operations during the first half of 2024, enhancing the overall quality of bus services for passengers in various regions of the UK.

As a result, we have decided to restart manufacture of our renowned Solo product and assist Stagecoach in replacing a portion of their existing Solo fleet," said Mahesh Babu, Chief Executive Officer - Switch Mobility.
