The main aim to implement this is to encourage the deployment of electric vehicles, a streamlined regulatory ecosystem at no cost to the operators has been proposed.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has simplified the All-India Tourist Vehicle rules, which were introduced last year. According to the ministry, this step will help boost the country's tourism industry. This will provide significant financial relief to smaller tourist operators who have smaller vehicles with lower seating capacity because they will now be required to pay lower fees commensurate with their vehicles' seating capacity.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry, the development will not only help to reduce the compliance burden for operators, but it will also include more categories of tourist vehicles, with lower permit fees for smaller capacity vehicles.
Last year, the Ministry implemented regulatory changes in taxation for inter-state tourist buses, which not only helped bus operators reduce financial outlays but also benefited end users with lower fares. Interstate bus taxes are based on the number of seats or berths in the vehicle.
The main aim to implement this is to encourage the deployment of electric vehicles, a streamlined regulatory ecosystem at no cost to the operators has been proposed.
