Mahindra Imperio is one of the most popular pickups in India, preferred for both personal and commercial use by customers. With the Imperio pickup customers get both a luxurious ride experience and the power to perform moderate to heavy load cargo transportation. This review takes a look at the exterior, interior, safety and performance of the Imperio pickup truck.
What to Expect from Mahindra Imperio?
Mahindra Imperio falls under the category of lifestyle pickup, which means it can be used as an SUV for small families or groups of people and it can also be used as a commercial pickup for cargo delivery applications. Aside from the comfort and power, the Imperio truck also offers proper safety and optimal fuel economy to its customers. Its customers can expect comfortable, safe and profitable inter and intra city delivery operations.
Overview
Mahindra Imperio is a powerful lifestyle pickup that comes in single and double cabin options with D+1 and D+4 seating capacity, respectively. Powered by the direct injection engine with common rail technology, it delivers power of 75 HP, torque of 220 Nm and mileage of 13.55 km/l.
The comfortable interior and stylish exterior provide an SUV-like driving experience and road presence. Features like the power steering and 4-step blower air conditioning help improve work productivity and the 1240 kg maximum payload capacity contributes to making more profits.
Exterior
Mahindra Imperio features a refreshing look for the pickup segment. From the outside, it looks exactly like a premium quality SUV with its attractive grille placed in between the stylish wraparound headlamps. The front bumper looks sharper than the other pickups and it also has provision to add fog lamps to improve visibility.
From the side, the vehicle has an aggressive presence with its 16 inch radial tubeless tyres, body coloured ORVMs and seamlessly integrated cargo box. The cargo box has a payload capacity of up to 1240 kg, suitable for moderate workloads. The city transportation use is complemented by its 6.3 m turning radius.
Mahindra has also given a wheelbase of 3220 mm and ground clearance of 211 mm for stable operations on even poor road conditions. The vehicle comes with three colour options: lava red, verve blue and arctic white, with metallic paint that looks visually appealing.
Interior
The interior of Mahindra Imperio is the best out of any other pickup truck in India. The ergonomic interior has ample legroom and headroom, comfortable fabric / fabric+vinyl seats and plenty of useful features plus NVH levels are much lower which makes driving more convenient.
To begin with, it has an adjustable power steering and air conditioner with a 4-step blower improving comfort and work productivity. Moreover, a stylish dashboard that features an analogue instrument cluster, 2 DIN music system and FuelSmart technology make the interior look appealing while offering useful features.
The cabin also has convenient features like power windows, bottle holder and central locking. The 2nd row bench seats with nap-rest are also provided, useful for longer journeys and overnight trips. It provides a comfortable long distance driving experience thanks to the independent front suspension.
Performance
The Mahindra Imperio offers high power and pickup on the road for rural and urban areas alike. It features a 4 cylinder, inline DICR engine that complies with the BS6 standards. The engine delivers an efficient power of 75 HP at 3200 RPM and peak torque of 220 Nm at 1400-2200 RPM, one of the highest in the segment.
The 2489 cc engine is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission and the rear wheel power is delivered through a single plate dry clutch. It suits the long distance transport criteria with a top speed of 120 km/hr and a fuel tank of 55 litres. The vehicle also has a decent fuel economy of 13.55 km/l to save some money.
Safety
Mahindra Imperio also stands at the top with its safety features for the protection of driver, passengers and cargo. The front nose design with a large bonnet and metal bumper is helpful in reducing the chances of injuries.
Further passenger safety is assured with the ELR seat belts, ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear that come with the LSPV for effective and low effort braking. An engine immobiliser, child lock on rear doors and follow me home lights features make the vehicle more secure.
The heavy cargo weight is supported efficiently by the robust chassis, leaf spring suspension and tubeless tyres to take on challenging roads.
Conclusion
Overall, the Mahindra Imperio makes for a perfect pickup truck to be used for both personal and commercial use. This truck offers powerful performance, impressive payload capacity and higher mileage on both rural and urban roads. The starting Mahindra Imperio price of 7.32 lakh combined with the benefits makes it a value-for-money product for the lifestyle pickup category.
