This week, Andhra Pradesh took a major green step by announcing 1,050 electric buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. Ashok Leyland partnered with Indian Bank to boost dealer financing, while FADA’s latest data revealed notable growth in CV and EV three-wheeler sales. FedEx joined hands with CSK for co-branded EV deliveries, and Delhi’s EV Policy 2.0 continued to push for cleaner urban transport.
On the agricultural front, Swaraj Tractors brought MS Dhoni back as a brand ambassador to inspire the next generation of farmers. Meanwhile, March 2025 and FY25 tractor sales showed mixed results, with Mahindra maintaining a strong lead. Madhya Pradesh extended the subsidy deadline for farming equipment, supporting ongoing harvest and sowing efforts.
Let’s dive into the week’s top stories shaping India’s mobility and agri-tech future.
Andhra Pradesh to Get 1,050 Electric Buses Under PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme
Andhra Pradesh will introduce 1,050 electric buses in 11 cities under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme to reduce pollution and boost public transport. Operated via a Public-Private Partnership with Pinnacle Mobility Solutions, the project includes building charging stations at 12 depots. APSRTC will pay per kilometre for 9m and 12m buses. Cities like Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada will get 100 buses each. The move supports cleaner travel, job creation, and better urban mobility across the state.
Ashok Leyland Partners with Indian Bank to Provide Financial Solutions to M&HCV Dealers
Ashok Leyland has partnered with Indian Bank to offer tailored financing solutions to its Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) dealers. This agreement aims to support dealer operations with quick credit approvals and competitive rates. With Indian Bank’s 5,880-branch network, the partnership will enhance Ashok Leyland’s market reach and ease working capital access for dealers. Leaders from both companies emphasized their commitment to growth, innovation, and strong dealer relationships through this collaboration.
FADA Sales Report March 2025: Three-wheeler (3W) sales increased by 5.52% MoM
In March 2025, three-wheeler sales dropped 5.67% YoY to 99,376 units, despite a 5.52% MoM rise. Key categories like goods and passenger vehicles saw YoY declines, while e-rickshaw variants posted gains. Bajaj, Mahindra, and Piaggio saw reduced sales, but brands like TVS and YC Electric grew. FADA cited weak early-month demand, followed by a festive boost. Dealers raised concerns over high stock and unrealistic targets, urging OEMs to align goals with ground realities.
FADA Sales Report March 2025: CV sales increased by 2.68% YoY
FADA’s March 2025 report shows that CV sales rose 2.68% YoY and 14.50% MoM to 94,764 units. LCVs and MCVs saw strong growth, while HCVs declined YoY. Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, and Maruti posted gains, but Tata Motors saw a drop. Festival demand and year-end purchases boosted late-month sales. However, dealers remain cautious due to high stock and unrealistic targets, urging OEMs to align expectations with real market conditions.
FADA Releases FY’25 Three-Wheeler Retail Sales Data: Bajaj Auto Leads Market Again
FADA reported 12,20,981 three-wheeler sales in FY’25, up from 11,67,986 in FY’24. Bajaj Auto led with 4.37 lakh units. Mahindra's Last Mile Mobility saw strong growth, while TVS and Atul Auto also improved. YC Electric stayed stable, but Piaggio, Saera Electric, and Dilli Electric saw slight declines. Overall, the market added over 53,000 units, showing a healthy demand despite mixed performances across brands.
FADA Releases FY’25 Three-Wheeler EV Retail Sales Report: Mahindra Group Leads the Market
FADA reported sales of 6,99,063 electric three-wheelers in FY’25, up from 6,32,806 units in FY’24. Mahindra Group led the segment, driven by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility’s surge. Bajaj Auto posted strong growth, while YC Electric and Energy EVs maintained steady sales. Piaggio and Mahindra & Mahindra saw sharp declines. The EV three-wheeler market continues to expand as new and existing players shape the segment’s future.
FedEx team up with Chennai Super Kings for a co-branded EV deliveries in India
FedEx has expanded its electric vehicle fleet in India by adding 13 Tata Ace EVs in Mumbai, taking its total to 59 across major cities. This move aligns with FedEx’s global carbon-neutral goal for 2040. The Tata Ace EV offers solid performance, comfort, and smart connectivity. With growing consumer demand for sustainability, FedEx is meeting expectations while promoting cleaner logistics—also boosting visibility through a CSK co-branded initiative.
JBM Auto’s strong Q4 FY2024 and March 2025 bus sales are underrepresented in official data due to Telangana’s non-integration with the Vahan portal. Telangana contributed over 80% of JBM’s Q4 sales, with 148 out of 152 units in March alone. Despite a true 36% market share in March, Vahan shows just 1.5%. This data gap distorts market insights and calls for the urgent inclusion of Telangana in Vahan.
Rajiv Chaturvedi Joins DICV as President and Chief Business Officer
Rajiv Chaturvedi has been appointed President and Chief Business Officer at Daimler India Commercial Vehicles. He brings over a decade of experience from Hyundai and Tata Hitachi. Taking charge amid slow market growth, Chaturvedi replaces Sreeram Venkateswaran. Despite a 23% drop in 2024 sales, DICV’s profits surged. Chaturvedi is expected to boost BharatBenz’s market share and align with Daimler Truck’s evolving global strategy.

The Delhi EV Policy 2.0: Only Electric Commercial Vehicles Allowed After August 15, 2026
Delhi's EV Policy 2.0 aims to phase out fossil-fuel-powered commercial vehicles starting August 15, 2025. It bans new registrations of petrol, diesel, and CNG autos, goods carriers, buses, and two-wheelers in a phased manner. Key goals include the full electrification of garbage vehicles by 2027 and increased EV charging stations. The policy is under review and highlights Delhi’s strong push toward clean, sustainable urban mobility.

Escorts Kubota and John Deere gained market share, while TAFE, Eicher, and Kubota saw notable declines. Telangana data was excluded, possibly affecting totals. Despite the dip, key players maintained strong positions amid evolving rural market dynamics.
India’s retail tractor sales dropped slightly in FY2025 to 8,83,095 units from 8,92,410 last year, as per FADA data. Mahindra & Mahindra led with a combined 42.32% market share across its divisions. Smaller brands like Captain and Preet saw declines, while ACE recorded over 100% growth.
Swaraj Tractors Rejoins Hands with MS Dhoni as Brand Endorser

This collaboration aims to promote modern farming solutions and connect with young, progressive farmers. Upcoming campaigns will showcase Swaraj’s latest tractors and features, reinforcing its commitment to agricultural innovation and farmer empowerment across India.
Good News: Deadline Extended for Subsidy on Agricultural Equipment in Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh government has extended the last date to apply for subsidies on agricultural equipment to 16 April 2025, helping farmers amid the Rabi harvest and Kharif preparations. Under the Krishi Yantra Anudan Yojana, up to 50% subsidy is available on 8 key machines like the Happy Seeder, Subsoiler, and Backhoe.
