OEM wise truck Sales Report Oct 2022

Most automakers have reported strong sales increases as a result of the holiday season and some experienced flat growth.

On September 26th, the auspicious occasion of Navaratri began, followed by Dussehra, and culminated in Diwali on October 24th. After two years of pandemic disruption, it saw the highest wholesale dispatches for inventory building in anticipation of good festive demand. Vehicle dispatches for CVs and 3Ws were lower in October when compared to September.

Automobile manufacturers have released sales figures for October 2022. Most automakers have reported strong sales increases as a result of the holiday season and some experienced flat growth. We present the October 2022 automobile sales figures for Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra’s, Eicher, and Maruti Suzuki, in this article.

Tata Motors

The commercial vehicle segment, which has been on an uptrend, experienced flat growth during the comparable period, declining by 2% to 32,912 units in October 2022. During the same period last year, sales totalled 33,674 units.

Tata Motors reported 9,860 units in October 2022 for the MHCV category, a 29 percent increase, indicating an increase in infrastructure development activities across the country following the monsoon season. In comparison, in October 2021, a total of 7,644 units were shipped.

However, ILCV, an indicator of last-mile connectivity, fell 27 percent to 4,083 units in October 2022, compared to 5,599 units sold the previous year. Similarly, small commercial vehicles’ cargo and pickup saw an 08% decline in October 2022, falling to 15,618 units from 17,025 in October 2021.

The Tata CV business increased its sales by 15% in the second quarter of FY22. Domestic wholesales in India were 93,651 vehicles (+19% year on year). However, exports were 6,771 vehicles, a 22% decrease due to the financial crisis in a few export markets.

Ashok Leyland

Ashok Leyland is commonly considered India's most dependable commercial vehicle manufacturer. In Commercial Vehicle Sales for October, it recorded an overall sales growth of 25.95%. The company ended October 2022 with a 33.95% increase in domestic sales and a 72.76% decrease in export sales.

Ashok Leyland Commercial Vehicle Sales Report October 2022 saw a 33.95% increase, with a 49% increase in the M&HCV category and an 18% increase in the LCV category. The Ashok Leyland M&HCV Trucks category sold 7,432 units in October 2022, up from 4,993 units in October 2021. On the other hand, the LCV category Vehicle Sales in India is 5,671 units in October 2022, up from 4,789 units in October 2021.

According to Ashok Leyland's recently released Export commercial vehicle sales statistics for 2022, its overall export sales fell by 72.76%, with a significant drop of 86.57% in the M&HCV Trucks category and a 34.9% drop in the LCV category. In the M&HCV Trucks category, the company sold 78 units in October 2022, compared to 581 units sold in October 2021. In contrast, the LCV truck category sold 138 units in October 2022, compared to 212 units sold in October 2021.

Mahindra & Mahindra’s

Mahindra is the well-known market leader in Small Commercial Vehicle segment. In October 2022, it saw a 40% increase in domestic sales. In October 2022, the company sold 26,061 commercial vehicle units, up from 18,604 in October 2021.

Except for the LCV and MHCV categories, Mahindra ICV sales data showed progressive sales growth in almost every segment. The LCV 2T category increased by 44%, with 4,562 units sold in October 2022 versus 3,175 units in October 2021. Similarly, sales of three-wheelers (including electric vehicles) increased by 44%. The LCV 2T - 3.5 T category saw a 41% increase in CV sales in India.

The Mahindra export CV sales figures for October 2022 show 2755 units sold, a 13% decrease from the 3174 units sold in October 2021. The cumulative Commercial Vehicle Sales Data in October 2022, on the other hand, increased by 5% over the previous year.

Eicher Trucks

Total truck sales for Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicle in October 2022 were 5,275 units, up from 5,492 units in October 2021. It results in a 3.95% drop in sales. Eicher Truck Sales Report October 2022 shows CV sales of 5,148 units, a 4.24% decrease from the 5,376 units sold in October last year.

Eicher Motors Truck Sales figures for 2022 show a 10% decrease in sales in the LMD (3.5T-15T) segment, with 3,346 units sold in October 2022, compared to 3,716 units sold in October 2021. However, the Heavy Duty (HD) segment experienced a remarkable 71.10% increase, with sales of 1,519 units in October 2022 compared to 888 units in October 2021.

Eicher Motors' export truck sales data in October 2022 show a significant decline of 63.34%. Low and Medium Duty (LMD) vehicle sales fell by 60.80% in October 2022, with 208 units sold compared to 531 units sold in October 2021. The Heavy Duty segment also saw a 68.90% drop in sales, selling 75 units in October 2022 versus 241 units in October 2021.

Overall, Eicher Motors' export truck sales data for 2022 saw a significant drop of 63.34%, with only 283 units sold in October 2022, compared to 772 units sold in October 2021.

VECV sales forecast 2022 In October 2022, total Volvo sales increased by 9.50% to 127 units, up from 116 units in October 2021.

Maruti Suzuki

The Indian manufacturer produces LCVs such as the Super Carry, which sold 2,913 units in India. Sales fell from 3,797 units sold the previous year. YTD sales increased to 22,422 units, up from 16,513 units sold the previous year. According to a year-to-date analysis, OEM supply increased from 26,645 to 42,457 units.
