Suzuki Motor Corporation, Daihatsu Motors Co., and Toyota Motor Corporation revealed prototype mini-commercial van electric vehicles (BEVs) outfitted with collaboratively developed BEV technologies. Daihatsu will manufacture these vehicles, while Suzuki, Daihatsu, and Toyota will each introduce variations in the fiscal year 2023.

From May 18 to May 21, it will be unveiled at an exhibition event that will include the Japanese motor industry's attempts to achieve carbon neutrality (CN). The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) will organize the show alongside the G7 Hiroshima Summit.

To create this mini-commercial van BEV, the three firms collaborated to build a BEV system suitable for mini-commercial vehicles by combining Suzuki and Daihatsu's competence in creating small-sized vehicles with Toyota's electrification technology.

Despite being an apparent laggard in the fast-developing electric vehicle sector, Toyota has disclosed a slew of new EV investments and vehicles.

Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies Corporation (CJPT) has also joined the effort to provide the best requirements for effective last-mile logistics. According to the data, these vehicles will have a cruising range of up to 200 kilometres on a single charge. A vehicle that can fully meet the expectations of clients in the delivery industry is also currently under development.

By the end of the year, Suzuki and Toyota will also debut their versions of the vehicles, which will be produced by Daihatsu. Toyota estimates that the cruising range per charge will be roughly 200 km.

The new commercial EV models are currently being developed with the "goal of creating a vehicle that can fully meet the needs of customers in the delivery industry." Keep an eye out for updates on the jointly produced commercial solution.
